Course Description: The internship program is meant to provide students with an opportunity to complement their formal learning with practical knowledge, skills, and desirable attitudes and to gain experience in a recognized Host Training Establishment (HTE). This program exposes the students to work realities that ideally hone their skills to prepare them once they get out of the university or college. Class sessions
will also be held to have a thematic discussion, sharing of experiences, and
conduct site visits. Internships can take place at historic sites, nonprofit
organizations, government agencies, advocacy groups, house (national or
local) museums, research libraries, archives, and other HTEs (Host Training
Establishments). Places for internships are selected by matching the track/s
taken by the students.
During the internship program, the student interns are assigned to different Host Training Establishments (HTEs) that may be determined and mutually agreed upon by the department, HTE, and the student intern. The instructor will closely follow students through class meetings, individual meetings, correspondence with the student and supervisor, the internship journal, and the internship site visit. Intern students can request individual meetings with the instructor outside the activities or during the consultation period and by appointment. To assist
students in their internships, the classes will guide practical aspects of
undertaking internship activities, such as applying for a position, conducting
communication, preparing materials (portfolios) and project reports, and
presenting findings.
